The Islamic Committee of the International Crescent (ICIC) Participation in the 47th Session of the Islamic Committee for Economic, Cultural, and Social Affairs (ICECES), held on April 15 – 17, 2025.

The ICIC delegation participated in the 47th ICECES Session, held ON April 15 – 17, 2025, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The delegation consisted of:

1-H. E. Ambassador Ali Mahmoud Buhedma, ICIC President.

2-Dr. Mohamed Hamad Elasbali, ICIC Executive Director.

This session attended by representatives of the OIC Member States and delegations of specialized and affiliated institutions and affiliated organs. The purpose was to formulate the relevant resolutions of these institutions, which submitted to the 51st Conference of Foreign Ministers, scheduled to hold in Istanbul, Turkey.

The opening session on handing over the presidency between H. E. Ambassador Ayya Tidjani, Ambassador of the Republic of Cameroon, President of the previous 50th Conference of Foreign Ministers, and H.E. Ambassador Ahmet Damir, Director General of the Middle East Department at the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who will chair the upcoming 51st Conference of Foreign Ministers.

  1. E. Mr. Hussein Ibrahim Taha, OIC Secretary General, delivered a speech at the opening session of the 47th ICECES Session in which he indicated that the success of the OIC activities for the coming year would depend on the guidance and support of this meeting. He added since the last 50th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers, held in Yaoundé, the Republic of Cameroon, on August 29-30, 2024. the OIC has continued to pay great attention to the implementation of its resolutions in areas, such as the economy, science and technology, culture, social and family affairs, youth, and sports. He reviewed the achievements made and pointed to future challenges to address, foremost among ıt is the Palestinian issue. He called for intensified efforts by OIC member states,  specialized  institutions, and affiliated organs to strengthen Islamic cooperation,  to address these  challenges, during the three-days  of  ICECES  session , the representatives of OIC member States  will review draft resolutions  in the fields of economic, scientific and technological affairs, culture,  social affairs, family affairs, youth, and sports, including  the ICIC  resolution ,  these resolutions will be submitted to the 51st session of the Council of Foreign Ministers,  scheduled to be held in Istanbul, Republic of Turkey, in June 2025, for final approval.

Meetings:

The ICIC delegation met with delegations from  OIC member states : Libya, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Tunisia, Morocco, Algeria, Senegal, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Iran, and Qatar, the  ICIC delegation also met with the  OIC Assistant Secretary-General for Cultural, Social, and Humanitarian Affairs, the OIC Assistant Secretary-General for Economic Affairs, and the Director of  Humanitarian Affairs,  in addition met with  specialized institutions and affiliated agencies,  including the Islamic Organization for Food Security, the Islamic Solidarity Fund, the Islamic Development Bank,  the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency, and the Islamic Center for Trade and Development, were also present. During these meetings, topics of common interest were discussed.
