Participation in the meetings of the 46th Islamic Commission for Economic, Cultural and Social Affairs session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation) OIC) 28-30 July 2024 Jeddah – Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

Dr. Mohamed H. Elasbali, Executive Director of the Islamic Committee of the International Crescent (ICIC), participated in the work of the 47th session of the Islamic Commission for Economic, Cultural and Social Affairs at the OIC General Secretariat, held in Jeddah – Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during the period 28-30 July 2024.

This is within the framework of the preparatory for the 50th session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers, scheduled table held in Yaoundé, Republic of Cameroon.

 The Commission meeting was held in the presence of H. E. Hussein Ibrahim Taha, OIC Secretary General, H. E. Mr. Hosni Al-Faqih, Ambassador in Charge of a Mission at the Office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad, H.E. Ambassador Aita Tijani, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Cameroon to the OIC,  the delegations of  OIC member States, representatives of the affiliated organs  and specialized institutions of the OIC , and procedures for handing over the presidency of the Islamic Commission  for Economic, Cultural and Social Affairs were carried out between the Mauritanian Ambassador, President of the previous session, to Ambassador Aita Tijani, President of the 47th session of this Commission.

During the three days   meeting, reports of the OIC  General Secretariat, the OIC  affiliated organs ,  specialized institutions and permanent commissions  were presented and distributed to the participating delegations, as well as the distribution of draft resolutions submitted by those institutions, were presented by the  OIC General Secretariat, discussed , comments and amendments were submitted by the delegations of the OIC member States.

Among the draft resolutions  of specialized institutions the resolution No. 6/50 C / Section B ICIC  draft resolution , submitted by the ICIC Executive administration , in which some important additions and nominations for ICIC new membership in the Committee were submitted by the delegates of Saudi Arabia, Turkey, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Qatar, Senegal and Morocco.

Meetings held with the following delegations: Libya, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, the United Arab Emirates and Iraq, the Executive Director of the Islamic Solidarity Fund.  The OIC  General Secretariat, especially the  OIC Assistant   Secretary-General for Cultural and Social Affairs, the  OIC Assistant Secretary-General for Economic Affairs, the   Special Advisor to the  OIC Secretary-General and the OIC  Directors of the Humanitarian Affairs Department, the Legal Department and the Protocol Department, where bilateral relations and topics of common interest were discussed.
