The ICIC Participation in the meetings held at the OIC General Secretariat Jeddah-Saudi Ariba Kingdom February 3-6, 2025

Dr. Mohamed Hamad Elasbali, Executive Director of the Islamic Committee of the International Crescent (ICIC), participated in the meetings held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) , Jeddah – Saudi Ariba Kingdom on February 3-6, 2025, which is the consultative meeting to discuss “A study on how to coordinate and integrate in the field and specialized aspects between the OIC four institutions, namely the Islamic Solidarity Fund, the Islamic Development Bank, the Islamic Committee of the International Crescent, the OIC-Red Network and the humanitarian funds, which was held at the OIC General Secretariat ,in the  Department of Humanitarian Affairs, headed by His Excellency Ambassador Tariq Bakhit, OIC Assistant Secretary-General for Cultural, Social and Humanitarian Affairs.

The responses of these organizations were discussed regarding their vision for coordination, cooperation and integration with humanitarian funds, and approval of the recommendations of the Department of Humanitarian Affairs (ICHAD), which stipulate the necessity of forming a technical committee headed by the ICHAD in the OIC General Secretariat and the membership of the four institutions to carry out the tasks of coordination, cooperation and integration among them and with the humanitarian funds. The draft statute of the humanitarian funds was also reviewed, as well as the proposals submitted by some Member States.

The work of the fourth session of open-ended governmental experts was attended, held at the headquarters of the OIC General Secretariat in Jeddah on 4-6 February 2025, which discussed the draft statute of the humanitarian funds, and some amendments were proposed by the delegations regarding the possibility of cooperation between the four OIC institutions and the humanitarian funds.

Meetings were held on some topics related to the relations of the ICIC with the OIC General Secretariat and the OIC member states with the OIC Assistant Secretary-General for Cultural, Social and Humanitarian Affairs, the Director of the Legal Department and the Advisor to the OIC Secretary-General. Several meetings were also held with some delegations and permanent delegates in Saudi Arabia, Libya, Qatar, Morocco, Turkey, Chad, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates, Iran and Cameroon, and the delegations of the Islamic Solidarity Fund and the OIC-Red Network. Bilateral relations and topics of common interest were discussed.
