Participation of the Islamic Committee of International Crescent (ICIC) The Libyan Red Crescent(LRCS) Major Exercise in Derna City 25-27 September 2025

The LRCS held its major exercise in cooperation with the Libyan Armed Forces on September 25 – 28, 2025, in the city of Derna, Libya. This exercise commemorated the anniversary of Cyclone Daniel, which struck several areas in eastern Libya on September 2023, particularly affecting Derna and surrounding areas. Approximately 300 volunteers from various branches of the LRCS participated in the exercise in presnec of LRCS Vice President and Secretary General . A delegation from the (ICIC) consisting of Br. Mahmoud Bouhedma and Br.Omar Ajwaili, also participated. A commemorative plaque was presented by LRCS Secretary General to the ICIC, for its participation and humanitarian aid provided to those affected by the disaster in Derna and surrounding areas were commended.

It is worth noting that the ICIC, in cooperation with the LRCS, implemented two aid projects for those affected by the disaster. The first project, in cooperation with the Benghazi branch of the LRCS , provided 1,500 relief packages containing food and baby supplies, funded by the ICIC , distribution began on October 3, 2023, by the Benghazi branch to displaced people in Derna. The second project, in cooperation with the General Secretariat of the LRCS , provided 2,000 relief packages of food and baby supplies, funded by the Islamic Solidarity Fund, distribution began on December 31, 2024, by the LRCS in Derna and surrounding areas.
